Hi! I’m Katie.

Pet care has always been an important part of my life, and it always will be.

I founded Katie’s Pet Care in early 2022, building upon my many years of experience as a professional pet sitter.

In 2019 I chose to make professional pet care my primary occupation.

I worked for a highly regarded pet care company in Chicago and was quickly identified as a top performer for my quality of care, reliability, and excellent judgment working with companion animals.

My managers promoted me to a key role in their hiring process.

I brought final-round candidates on my services, interviewing them in the field and evaluating their suitability as pet care providers.

Prior to going full-time with pet care, I worked in philanthropy and program management at the University of Chicago (my alma mater!), Feeding America, and Rotary International.

My pet care journey began in my youth and continues to evolve.

I was the primary caregiver for my household pets—dogs, cats, turtles, and fish—and I also took care of other companion animals in my community.

I was the neighborhood go-to for dog walking and pet vacation care, and I built up such a positive reputation that I was sought out and employed by registered kennels and catteries to help care for litters of puppies and kittens from their infancy.

I’ve taken care of cats and dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, and I bring my full attention, compassion, and expertise to each one.

My current pets

I’d be in huge trouble if they found out I have a whole pet-centered website and didn’t at least mention them!

I adopted Oregon as an adult cat well over ten years ago from The Anti-Cruelty Society. We don’t know exactly how old she is, but it’s safe to say she’s a sweet and sassy senior who greatly enjoys sneaking onto my domestic partner John’s desk chair whenever he steps away from his computer.

Spike is an aquatic turtle that John became “turtle dad” to when he was in middle school, and I’ve been helping to take care of her for over a decade. Spike enjoys basking under her special reptile lamp on her floating perch and swimming in her tank.

Parker and Nandor (the Relentless) joined our family in late 2022, when we adopted them from Tree House Humane Society. They are total sweethearts and total rascals, and they really seem to enjoy pestering Oregon and helping to keep her young at heart.
